Tuesday, June 23, is our first joint technical seminar with the SEAMW-YMG. The event includes a tour of the brand new Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) headquarters, a talk by the architect and structural engineer of the project, 1.5 HSW LU, and beer, wine, and light appetizers.
Please forward the event information to your friends/co-workers, and don’t forget to register yourselves!
Have you ever wondered what structural engineers say about architects? Or how architects and structural engineers work together to accomplish unique structurally sound buildings?
Come enjoy a tour and discussion between the architects and structural engineers behind the new Center for Strategic and International Studies global headquarters. The nine-story, 130,000-square-foot built-to-suit office building is home to one of the world’s preeminent international think-tanks, and was recently featured in Architecture DC magazine.
Speakers and tour guides include:
- Elba Morales, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, Hickok Cole Architects
- Tom Corrado, LEEP AP, Hickok Cole Architects
- Devon Perkins, AIA, LEED AP
- Paul Quast, AIA, LEED AP, Hickok Cole Architects
- Mark Tamaro, PE, LEED AP, Thornton Tomasetti
This is a joint event between us, the AIA|DC’s Emerging Architects Committee, and the Structural Engineers Association of Metropolitan Washington’s Young Members Groups (SEAMW-YMG); both architects and structural engineers are highly encouraged to attend. This is an opportunity for young, as well as more seasoned professionals, to meet in an informal setting and ask each other whatever we have always wanted to know about the other. A joint networking happy hour will follow the presentation and tours.
