AIA|DC’s Emerging Architects Committee is pleased to announce that Suzane Reatig, FAIA, founder of Suzane Reatig Architecture, will join our upcoming Debate on Research in Corporate Practice, the second of our Architecture Uncensored series.
Suzane Reatig, FAIA, founder of Suzane Reatig Architecture // @
Suzane Reatig, FAIA, is the rare architect whose modest work has already made an impact on all that experience it. Working with clients of limited means and ambitious aspirations, Reatig has developed projects of great sensitivity in long-neglected urban areas. Her designs are bold but timeless, carefully crafted and exquisitely detailed. Expressing a contemporary use of materials and an intuitive understanding of modern structure and space, they reflect our time while still addressing the basic needs of her clients.
Reatig has received numerous national and international awards, and has been extensively discussed by her peers, the architectural community and press. As a frequent lecturer, she often shares her vision with other architects and students. Reatig’s work, a subject of continual visitation, demonstrates that the academic critique and the built example can both coexist and inform each other.
A few thoughts on the Aug. 5 debate topic:
- Cultural and artistic experiences contribute significantly to the quality of an architect’s work.
- Achieving balance between inspiration and perspiration while being properly compensated are imperative to the success of the profession.
Suzane will be joined by

- Steven Spurlock, FAIA, managing principal at Wnuk Spurlock Architecture //@
