24 teams from architecture and design firms from Washington, DC will use their skills to build sculptures out of cans of food. This year’s transportation-themed sculptures will include a full-scale smart car, the CAN-nook Chopper to the Rescue, a Lunar module, the Mayflower bean soup ship, the Scooby-Doo mean, green Mystery Machine, and many more. You can vote for your favorite sculpture by bringing canned goods when you come to view the sculptures in the “ballot box” in front of each. After the cans are counted, the highly coveted People’s Choice Award will be given during the de-canstruction on November 30th .
CanstructionDC 2015 begins with the Build-Out on Sunday, November 22, where our 24 teams have six hours to construct their imaginative sculptures, and ends on Monday, November 30, with the Awardsannouncements and dismantle of the projects.
This year we encourage visitors to stop by the National Building Museum on Friday, November 27 to view the sculpures and vote for their favorite one by bringing a canned good donation. Please join us in this Black Friday activity as an alternative to the excesses of shopping on the day after Thanksgiving.
