|The Howard University Interdisciplinary Research Building (HUIRB), a user-based facility modeled after several of the national users-based laboratories, opened in spring of 2015. The building is certified LEED Silver and has over 43,000 square- feet of total laboratory space, as well as a 3,000 square-foot mixed-use lobby that caters to the broader community.
HUIRB is a user-based facility that provides state of the art support to Howard University’s research faculty and students in a number of disciplines. Participants will learn how the design fosters a collaborative environment that aims to promote rapid discovery, the key for meeting the needs of translational and developmental research. This program will also address how the building supports the institutional vision of campus renewal and its sustainable design features.
