Lakeview Research seeks a Job Captain for the Multi-Family High Rise studio of an international architecture and planning firm. It is located in metropolitan Washington, D.C., and is an established firm with multiple award winning designs. The firm leaders have experience working in nearly 20 countries with projects in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Their diverse international team provides the expertise to manage clients through all design phases – from feasibility, strategy and through construction.
The Job Captain is responsible for consultant coordination, code and accessibility research and issues, assisting the project manager in the development and implementation of the Project Schedule, promoting clear communications among all project team members, acts as “In-house” project coordinator, supports all team members and reports to the Project Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as liaison to the architectural team, including designers and all consultants, to coordinate information
Assist intern team members, as needed, and offer solutions to rectify any problems that arise
Attend and observe client meetings and prepare and distribute minutes
Review all Architectural work and coordinate with consultants (with the assistance of the Project Manager)
Prepare, control and manage the deliverables of the project for final review by the Project Manager, follow through on deliverable deliveries
Assist PM with project file maintenance and ensure compliance with standards
Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, solve problems and motivate others, while maintaining effective relationships with clients by meeting or exceeding their requirements and expectations
Must have a thorough understanding of state / local codes and accessibility requirements meeting state and federal standards
Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups
Good judgment and reasoning ability, enabling problem solving with the constant shifting of priorities and daily tasks
Self-motivated personality to take on projects and assignments without the need for the micromanagement of a supervisor
Ability to manage time, deadline oriented and takes initiative (self-starter) and can communicate both by oral and written English
Proven record in developing client relationship and experience in negotiation and dispute resolution
Keen observation and detail-orientation skills and decision-making and documents checking abilities
Must possess intellect, integrity and influencing skills required to build strong professional relationships at all organization levels
Strong organizational skills and disciplined accuracy are required and proven ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment.
Strong aesthetic sense and interest in the arts and a track record in successful design projects
Knowledge of professional ethics, as applied to architecture, along with working knowledge of allied design disciplines
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education: Bachelor of Architecture
License: Highly recommended
Software Proficiency: AutoCad 200x (desirable), REVIT necessary, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project 200x
Experience: 6 – 8 years of experience in architecture

Requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate Must be able to write reports and business correspondence in clear concise business English. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public in a professional, collegial manner.
