AIA|DC’s Emerging Architects Committee offers several opportunities for young architects to find mentorship through various programs listed below.
Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program
This year-long program prepares AIA|DC professionals for future leadership roles. It consists of nine individual half-day sessions attended by approximately 15 participants. Prospective participants must go through an application process for selection where proven career success, community involvement and the individual’s firm support will be considered. AIA|DC|EAC’s Mentoring Workshops bring together Emerging Professionals (interns and newly licensed) on a monthly basis to discuss topics relating to you, the practitioner. This year’s theme is “Leadership and the Emerging Architect.” This series is designed to bring together emerging professionals and mentors to discuss topics relating to new and aspiring architects. The sessions will take place at various D.C. architecture firms with tours at the conclusion of each workshop. New interns, architects, and mentors are always welcome!
Resume and Portfolio Workshops
The AIA|DC|EAC hosts an annual two-part resume and portfolio workshop targeted for recent architecture graduates. These workshops include presentations by architects who review resumes and interview applicants for firms, panel discussions, and one-on-one critiques.
ARE Prep Course
Every year the AIA|DC offers a seven-session ARE Prep Course to provide potential test-takers with an overview of the exams and topic areas covered. Licensed professionals lead each class. Click here for more information.
